About Our Chapter

Organized May 28, 1895, the Boston Tea Party Chapter is a Massachusetts chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

Our mission is historic preservation, education, and patriotism.

Boston Tea Party Chapter has over 100 members from eighteen different states; of these, 11 are Junior Members. We have nearly 30 Associate Members. We welcome members to actively participate on any of our committees as well as on our elected executive board.

Our chapter meets once a month on Saturdays from September through May (though we break for January); we typically have a bit of socializing, a business meeting, and a topical program. We volunteer at a local homeless shelter once a month as a group on Sundays. We also host periodic social events. Guests, prospective members, and "HODARS" are welcome at our events.

Many Boston Tea Party Chapter NSDAR members participate in state and National Society committees, clubs, boards, and events.

Wait a second… are you guys a political party?

We get that a lot! No, we are not part of any political party. DAR is apolitical and as a non-profit does not engage in campaigning or political speech. We do value the right to vote and believe it to be our duty as good citizens to exercise that right! Are you registered to vote? As a Massachusetts resident, you can find out here.

Incidentally, Boston Tea Party Chapter, NSDAR, was founded in 1895, over 100 years before the political party with which we share part of our namesake. You can learn more about the Boston Tea Party’s role in the American Revolution here.
