Margaret (Peggy) O'Connor
Chapter Regent
Peggy is the Regent of the Boston Tea Party Chapter. She is Chapter Chair for the DAR Service for Veterans Committee, Service to America Committee, Vietnam War 50th Commemorative Committee, and the Bylaws Committee. Lastly, she is a member of the Chapter Finance Committee. Within Massachusetts DAR, Peggy is the Chair of the Chapter Achievement Report, serves as the West Roxbury VA Representative, and sings in the State Chorus. Peggy has been a teaching nurse in the greater Boston area for over 30 years. She lives with her husband on the south shore and has two young adult daughters who are members of the Boston Tea Party Chapter. Peggy joined the Boston Tea Party Chapter in November of 2015.
Susan Gerow
Chapter Vice Regent
Susan Gerow serves as the Vice Regent for the chapter. She lives on the North Shore with her family and delights in working her perennial flower beds. She also enjoys working on various crafting projects in support of her volunteer with DAR and Otherworld.org, an educational non-profit, where she has volunteered for 20 years. Susan joined DAR to establish a closer link to her ancestors who settled in Massachusetts in the 1600s. She is pleased to support the work of DAR as it honors our patriots, past and present, and seeks to preserve the rich heritage of this country.
Jessica Allan Schmidt
Chapter Chaplain
Jessica is serving as the chapter’s chaplain, offering meditations and readings at chapter services and pastoral care to chapter members in times of illness and death. She is a graduate of Wellesley College, where she studied peace and justice studies and graduated with a degree in history from the Davis Scholars program for adult students. Before her enrolment at Wellesley, she was an enlisted member of the U.S. Army Reserve, serving as a combat medic and as a chaplain’s assistant. In addition to her duties with the DAR, she serves as a volunteer at Massachusetts General Hospital and with the Junior League of Boston. She has two adult daughters who are also members of the chapter and lives in Cambridge with her husband.
Darlene Brown
Chapter Treasurer
Darlene serves as the Treasurer for the chapter. She lives on the north shore, where she moved after retiring from the high tech community where she held high-level accounting positions. She enjoys travel and has been able to do so, locating family graves and documenting history for county books that are currently being published in Clark County, Illinois, and Rush County, Indiana. Darlene joined DAR to learn more about her heritage and to honor her ancestors that fought for freedom, many of whom fought or supported the war by providing food to the Revolutionary troops and later fought in the Civil War. She is also an active supporter of DAR sponsored education and veteran organizations. Darlene is a member of the Massachusetts State Society Chorus and sings with the local senior chorus, visiting nursing homes to bring cheer.
Victoria Groves-Cardillo
Chapter Corresponding Secretary
Victoria is the Corresponding Secretary for the chapter. She joined Boston Tea Party Chapter in 2016 and currently serves as Chapter Chair for Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.). Victoria previously served as DAR Good Citizens Chair, working with assigned local schools to celebrate outstanding high school seniors. She lives with her husband and daughter in Boston.
Rachel Trousdale
Chapter Registrar
Rachel is a current Junior Member serving as Chapter Registrar, assisting with the preparation and review of applications for membership before they are submitted to the National Society and liaising among prospective members. She is currently serving the Massachusetts State Society as the State Chair of the American Indians Committee. She completed the DAR-sponsored course “DNA and the DAR” in February 2019 and completed a six-week course on archaeology and the Battle of Dunbar facilitated by Durham University in June 2019. Rachel moved from the American Southwest to Boston to attend college with the idea that while she was in the area her ancestors lived for 300 years, she might be able to get some hands-on family research done. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston with a double major in Art History and Classical Languages. Besides genealogy, she loves to read (especially mystery novels!), bake, and watch Masterpiece Theatre. She lives on the South Shore with her HODAR, her puppy, and her two daughters.
Karen True
Chapter Historian
Karen joined DAR in 2007 after forming an interest in genealogy around the beginning of the millennium. Photography is her hobby and her passion, which she shares with DAR on the chapter, state, and national levels. Karen documents all of the Boston Tea Party Chapter NSDAR events. She also serves on the Photography Committee at DAR National Conference. Further utilizing her eye for design, she designs baskets for the Massachusetts State Society's spring fundraiser. Karen is retired after over three decades in employee benefits and is a member of the Winthrop Art Association.
Maegan Squibb
Chapter Librarian
Maegan serves as Chapter Librarian. Originally from California, Maegan joined DAR in New Mexico in 2017 before transferring to Boston Tea Party when she moved to Massachusetts for graduate school in 2018. Maegan serves as a Chapter Chair and a State Page. She is in the archives management program at Simmons University. Maegan lives on the North Shore.
